Clothespin ornament dolls
Wooden non-spring clothes pins - I found them at the dollar store, 20/ $1
Permanent markers
Color shirt; add face; color in hair. Outline lapel, buttons, and placket; fill in pants.
I'm now in the process of adding gold clothing accents.

I thought I'd made up these dolls, and then I found instructions on the web. It turns out they're called a traditional Japanese doll called Kokeshi dolls.

3 month old chickens in June. Penguin(rooster-left) and Henrietta(hen-middle) are Colombian Wyandottes, Mel is a Brown leghorn. He was supposed to be a girl - oops!
A copy of a post I made, responding to a question about postage costs.

The order is taken over the phone by a person who needs to be paid; to be packed by a person who needs to be paid; go a long way in a vehicle powered by expensive gas, driven by a person who needs to be paid; unloaded at customs by a person who needs to be paid; and looked over by a customs person who needs to be paid; then put on an expensive airplane propelled by expensive jet fuel flown by a pilot, copilot and navigator who all need to be paid; then unloaded at your customs by a person who needs to be paid; looked over by a customs person who needs to be paid; then onto a vehicle powered by expensive petrol driven by a person who needs to be paid; to a post office and sorted by a person who needs to be paid; put on another vehicle powered by expensive petrol and driven by a person who needs to be paid; to a smaller post office, sorted by a person who needs to be paid; put on another vehicle powered by expensive petrol and taken directly to your house by your mailman who needs to be paid.

Note to anyone saving can tabs...

Saving can tabs to create some items as seen on here. - http://tabistry.blogspot.com/2008/06/jeudi-warrior-princess.html
Note to anyone saving can tabs... Please be careful when removing the darn things.
Don't put your fingers on the edge of the can lid and attempt to turn them to release the tab blink.gif

First thing in the morning, didn't think at all, just opened the cat food, scooped it into 3 saucers, and wanted to get the tab.
Standing there dripping blood, cats yelling give me my food, haven't had my coffee (which is why my brain was dead), trying to reach a clean towel, tell the yelling cats to shut up, trip over a Siamese, get the towel, trip over a black and white cat, dump the food saucers on the floor so they'll be quiet, trip over the Siamese again, make my way to the bathroom for some bandaids, cover the cuts, go back into the kitchen because I sure hope the coffee's done brewing, trip over that Siamese again, pour some coffee (spilling some in the process, but there's no way I'm cleaning it up then), go sit down - on the Siamese because she's finished eating and sitting in my chair wanting to clean my fingers for me...

I have 2 nice slices on my fingers, and I didn't even get the darn tab.

I've been folding hearts, using the directions from this blog. I hope the picture is clear, I used my scanner. (The darn camera is out of batteries, again.)
The picture is very close to actual size. I'm getting 2 hearts to each piece of paper.

I'm using the origami paper from my half-price calendar. Fortunately, the paper so far has been red and pink.

The snow is melting, but it's still cold. I'm making a big pot of bean and ham soup with the leftover ham from Christmas. It's steaming up the kitchen nicely.
----------
Sandra's Bean and Ham Soup
Makes a ton.
Made this for Rosie's outdoor wedding-- Only had 2 cups left over...

8 cups chicken broth (my homemade chicken broth is condensed)
8 cups water
2 cups mixed beans and barley (soaked)
2 cups pureed carrots
1/2 onion, minced
1 pound chunked spiral-sliced honey ham
spices--paprika; onion powder; oregano; thyme; sage
1 Tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet

Cook two hours. Chill in fridge overnight. Warm slowly and gently.
(Note: The overnight chill allows the barley to soften, making for a creamier soup.)
